“I’m just rehearsing for the tour -he says- because we will travel on Monday”.

-What do you remember about your first visit to a theatre?

-It was great! The first time I went to Argentina I found an uncontrolled and wonderful passion. It was all very… outgoing, I would say, with people on fire. I felt like in a soccer match, with everyone excited and pushing for me to win and everything went well. It’s a good crowd.

-How do you compare the energy when you sing in a theater or a big open air festival?

I like both, each has something special. I feel like in a theater I can keep the energy inside. At festivals you can’t control the experience so much, and while I don’t want to control everything, I want to have a good impact on people.

-Will you come up with a setlist of songs or do you like to improvise live?

-I add some songs from time to time. Right now I have about four records that people know well. In these rehearsals we’re doing we’ve started preparing about four other songs to rotate from time to time.

Compose for third parties

-What’s better than composing for third parties or singing your own songs?

-The best thing about composing for others is making sure the song stands on its own. It’s like the song has legs and can switch between voices. It’s also fun to hear what someone else does with something I’ve written. But if I have to be honest, in recent years what worries me the most is writing for myself. I am very inspired by my life and my ability to share my thoughts. It is very interesting to convey this.

-Who do you look up to as songwriters: the old guard like Patti Smith and Carly Simon, or next-crop folks like Linda Perry?

-I like many composers old school, such as Carly Simon, John, Lennon, Stevie Nicks and Roy Orbison, but in the new generation there are also great composers, such as Post Malone and The Weeknd. Oops, I didn’t mention anyone from rock! (laughs) I can appreciate a good song, rock or not.

-How is the year going after this tour?

-I have an album I made last year and it’s coming out in a few months, so I’m sorting out the final details.
