The walk from the London Hollywood Hotel in West Hollywood to the Dolby Theater on normal days would take no more than 20 minutes. But today it will take no less than an hour.

The city has closed all traffic near the Dolby, and there, in the heart of Hollywood, so many stars and special guests will be arriving that the wait will be long.

For this reason, the vehicles that Amazon Studios has organized to take the Argentines have picked them up in the different places where they stay, or live, to be able to arrive on time and not miss anything, not even the champagne carpet – this year they have changed the color and no longer the traditional red- nor the power to chat with other candidates.

The entourage that will sit in the Dolby armchairs is made up of the director, Santiago Mitra and his partner, Dolores Fonzi; Ricardo Darín and his wife Florencia Bas; Peter Lanzaniand the producers victory too, Axel KushchevatzkyAgustina Llambi Campbell, Federico Posternak, Santiago Carabante, Cindy Teperman and Javiera Balmaceda, sister of actor Pedro Pascal, Chilean like him, and head of original content for Amazon’s streaming platform in Latin America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

how they will sit

Since there are so many in the delegation, the tickets have left, at the same time, little by little, and they won’t all be seated in the same row.

On the one hand, Santiago Miter and Ricardo Darín, accompanied by their partners, will be in a sector of the public. On the other, Peter Alfonso will be next to the producer Federico Posternak, and so on.

For those who have come from Buenos Aires, but will not be seated at the Dolby Theater, and for special guests, Amazon, which is one of the producers of the film, has arranged a special seat. They will follow what happens at the ceremony at the Tatel restaurant in Beverly Hills – Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal and his compatriot, basketball player Pau Gasol, who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, are one of the owners. Victoria Alonso, it seems, was one of the people in charge of getting the restaurant.

Among those who have traveled to be here are cinematographer Javier Juliá (wild talesand who did the lighting of Misanthropefilm debut of Damián Szifron in the United States, and which he directed in Montreal, posing as Baltimore).

There is also Pedro Osuna, Spanish composer of the film’s music. Juliá and four other members of the film’s technical team paid for the tickets and rented an apartment, to closely follow everything that happens on this night, which could be truly historic.

The activity of the Argentines has not had, nor does it rest. Friday afternoon was the symposium that the Hollywood Academy holds in each edition, which brings together the directors of the five films nominated for Best International Film. This time, it was not done in the Samuel Goldwyn room of the Academy – from there the Oscar candidates are always read -, but in the Museum of the Academy.

And it had another peculiarity: each director was made to talk about a film by another of the nominees. It was Miter’s turn No news on the frontand, the German production that many analysts are giving as a favorite to win the statuette tonight.

With the entourage already complete -Ricardo Darín and his wife, Florencia Bas, were the last to arrive in Los Angeles on Friday morning from Buenos Aires-, they went to visit the Observatory, where the famous scene was filmed Of La La Land. And at night they attended the party organized by CAA (Creative Artists Agency), an American talent and sports agency based in Los Angeles, for which Santiago Miter signed up.

What does this mean? That the CAA will represent him in front of the producers, reach him with projects and also disseminate the ideas of which the director The student AND the band. The road opens to Santiago.
