Alec Baldwin, who accidentally killed Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie “Rust” in New Mexico, United States, in October, previously practiced with the revolver where the bullet would have come out to kill the cinematographer. This new information can be seen in videos contributed to the case by the sheriff’s office of Santa Fe, the state’s capital.
In the photos you can see Baldwin sitting on a church pew, on the same day of filming where Hutchins died. At that moment he took the pistol out of his jacket, pointed it at the camera and repeated the action a second time.
This this contradicts the version delivered by the actor to Justice, where he made sure he never pulled the trigger until the moment of recording the deadly scene.
The material released today by the sheriff’s office consists of videos of rehearsals on the recording set, text messages or witness interviews with investigators, including in film director, Joel Souza, who was injured in the shoulder after the projectile passed through Hutchins’ body.
Souza can be seen on video in the emergency room, telling an investigator that the shooter’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, said “the gun was clean.”

At this point, a text message was also learned from props leader Sarah Zachry, in which she told a member of her team that Baldwin’s desire has always been to use real weaponsbecause he doesn’t like “fake guns or rubber knives”.
According to the Santa Fe First Judicial District Prosecutor’s Office, the investigation is still open and awaits further reports from the sheriff’s office to review the evidence and make a decision on the criminal case.
On April 20, the New Mexico Occupational Safety and Health Administration fined the producer of “Rust” more than $ 135,000 for “serious and deliberate” failures on the film set.

The document, copied by the BBC, established that there was “total disregard for the risks associated with the use of firearms” and concluded that “there were some management failures and there was more than enough evidence to suggest that if the practices were followed. industry standards, the deadly shooting of Hutchins and the serious injury to Souza would not have happened. “
The deadly shooting took place on October 21, 2021 during the filming of the independent western “Rust”, when Baldwin’s prop gun appeared to be full of live ammunitionwhich led to the death of the 42-year-old cinematographer and serious injury to the director.
The pistol, logically, should not be filled with real cartridges. And there is a full judicial investigation trying to explore why the tragic stage occurred and, obviously, who or who was responsible.
I’m trying to agree
Baldwin allegedly tried to negotiate with the victim’s family before they charged him. As it happened, he intended to finish recording the film in which he worked and, thus, provide financial support to relatives.
The actor spoke to the girl’s ex -partner twice. In the first of them, he was open to an agreement. But in the second, he seemed to repent. This stance was confirmed when the settlement attempt failed after Matthew Hutchins filed a false death case against Baldwin and others responsible for the film last month.
Baldwin, back in the ring
Alec Baldwin, who left the film set after Hutchins ’death and is expecting his eighth child, will return to filmmaking after six months and do so in Italy.
The star is starting filmmaking in Rome with two new films for Minerva Pictures, in collaboration with ILBE: Kid Santa and Billie’s Magic Word.
The two films, to be filmed in “live action”, a technique that combines real actors and animated characters, will be played by Alec along with his brother William Baldwin, whom he will be joining for the first time on a set.
