After the premiere of Super Mario Bros. The Movie, in which Seth Rogen voices Donkey Kong, Rogen continued to use his voice. This time, to express his opinion on the 1993 live action version; watch out for spoilers: your opinion is not good.

“When I was 11, I saw the original Super Mario Bros. movie and was very excited. But it’s one of the worst movies ever made. I was very disappointed. I think it made me realize that movies, for example, could be bad. It had never occurred to me until then. It really put me off.”

It is the type of judgment that rejects any possibility of contradiction:

Starring in one of the Super Mario Bros is something Seth Rogen has wanted for years. The wish has just come true, this time in an animated form.

And as if to support the new film, and so that no one tries to associate it with that failed experience from the very first time, he points out: “It’s good to reclaim that moment. It’s good to know that 11-year-olds won’t be disappointed like me.”

That said, those who know more than theaters, the Hollywood Hills, wonder: what will John Leguizamo say?

This Colombian actor (American citizen) was the one who played Luigi in the original Mario Bros.

And far from subscribing to Seth Rogen’s words, Leguizamo has always tried to vindicate it… And the truth is, his main argument is right: the key is in what underdeveloped special effects were like three decades agoespecially if you compare them with the realism they can generate in these days of full digital culture.

Then, when the subject came up at San Diego Comic-Con, Leguizamo simply said, “Directors Annabel Jankel and Rocky Morton fought really hard for me to be the lead. because I was Latin and those in the studio didn’t want to give me the lead,” she said. “I insist, Annie and Jan fought hard to cash me in, and it was great progress.”

The old or the new, that’s the question

Obviously the two Super Mario Bros movies have nothing to do with each other. As the live action version takes place in an alternate universe where dinosaurs evolved instead of humans, and now the world is ruled by their descendants.

The Mario Brothers are Brooklyn plumbers who find themselves drawn into this world when they try to rescue Princess Daisy from Koopa’s minions. In this place, the characters fight for survival as they try to find a way back home. In the original cast, in addition to John Leguizamo, stand out Bob Hoskins, Dennis Hopper (get up, gentlemen!) and Samantha Mathis.

While the animated version features the voices of Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black and Seth Rogen. In this case the story also focuses on the Mario brothers, still plumbers (it seems in the Homeland) in Brooklyn, entering a new world.

Only this time they have to save Luigi and stop Bowser from taking over the Mushroom Kingdom. one of its greats hits is the large number of references and hidden details it has from the video game saga. Furthermore, it aims to become one of the highest-grossing films of the year, as it is garnering great interest among audiences of all ages.

And what happens to the actor in these cases, where instead of showing his face (his body, his whole being), he just has to give his voice? you can just focus on coming up with jokes that the kids could laugh atRogen explains about animated comedy.
