André Richard, creator and interpreter of Fanfan Dédé, died at the age of 84

Actor and singer André Richard, whose character Fanfan Dédé entertained children from 1975 to 1982 on the airwaves of Télé-Métropole, died suddenly on April 21, his agent Mériem Chaieb confirmed on Wednesday.

Although he has performed several roles on television, in cinema and in the theater, it was really Fanfan Dédé who, along with the puppet FinFin, had the greatest impact on Quebec’s imagination. The character he created in the 1970s is at the heart of a children’s program of the same name, which was broadcast for seven years on Télé-Métropole, the ancestor of TVA.

Mr. was also pleased. Richard in the career as a singer, who repeated his Fanfan Dédé persona to release several albums that took him on the journey. The artist has received various awards across Canada for Fanfan Dede as well as the Tribute Award from the City of Montreal.
