An initial favorable response from journalists

The plot and details of the film will be kept secret until the official presentation of Top Gun: Maverick at the Cannes Film Festival next month, but the film was immediately applauded on social media by journalists who attended the screening hosted by Paramount Studios.

The new part stays true to the recipe that made it a success in the first place Top gun featuring intense action scenes shot aboard real U.S. Navy fighter jets, as well as numerous references to the original.

Tony Scott, who directed it, died in 2012 but his successor, Joseph Kosinski, found a way to pique Tom’s interest after seeing YouTube videos taken by Navy pilots using GoPro cameras during their training flights.

I showed it to Tom and he said, “It’s available for free on the Internet … If you can’t do better, then it’s not worth filming.” And so he agreed!Joseph Kosinski rejoiced.

With the help of aeronautical specialists, the filmmakers actually succeeded in placing at least six cameras in the cockpit of the jets used for filming.

The help of the US Navy

The original film was inspired by the elite pilot training program known as Topgun held at a closed military base today in San Diego, California.

Top gun was very successful at a time when Navy recruiting teams were filled with requests from young people who wanted to follow in the footsteps of Maverick and his comrades. Some even set up tables in front of movie theaters.

At the time, however, the film crew did not receive much support from the Navyunderlined Joseph Kosinski. For this film, however, when we contacted the Navy, the doors opened for us: “Come in, tell us what you need”.

The second phase, for example, has access to the very safe base of China Lake, in the Californian Mojave desert, the director said.

Top Gun: Maverick will also see the return of Val Kilmer, who played rival Iceman in the original film. He appeared there, a particularly touching performance as the actor lost use of his voice after treatment for throat cancer.

Val is comfortable with what it does. It’s very moving in the filmJerry Bruckheimer recalled.

He is still an incredible actor, an incredible individual.claimed by the producer, as Tom Cruise said: I wouldn’t have made this film without Val.
