A new recital season has begun in Medio y Medio, Uruguay: who will play this summer

The prestigious Half and half of Punta Ballena, Uruguay, a space where music, gastronomy and cocktails come together, has launched its 2024 season, along with the full program of its legendary festival now in its 28th edition.

This year the lineup incorporates new artists, new genres and further expands the range of proposals, covering an audience of all generations.

The list includes figures such as Skay Beilinson, Emi (from You Won’t Like It), Fabiana Cantilo, Paulinho Moska, La Delio Valdez, Chico César, Escalandrum and a cycle of Fabiano Quintierowho will even celebrate their birthday on stage with big surprise guests on January 23rd.

Furthermore, artists like Dillom, Bandalos chinos, Turf, you point it out to me AND The Kuelgue.

As international visitors from across the ocean, Muerdo, Antílopez, Pedro Pastor, El Jose and Leo Rizzi will arrive for the first time. In turn, this year the festival expands its borders and will welcome Purahéi Soul from Paraguay and Luisga de Los Ajenos, from Costa Rica.

Openness and direction

The traditional opening was performed by the great Uruguayan keyboard player Ugo Fattoruso, this time celebrating his 80th anniversary on Friday 29th, in a special evening created with his son, bassist Francisco Fattoruso. He was accompanied by Laura Canoura, Martin Ibarburu, Nico Ibarburu and the Silva brothers.

The general direction of the project and the curation of the festival is in the hands of Leandro Quiroga Ferreres, its owner. The renowned signature cuisine, with original recipes from the chef Graciela Ferreres -mother of Leandro-, today she is in charge of two of her disciples: Beatriz Carrasco and Paola Hernández. The soul and host spirit of Lupa Quiroga, Leandro’s father, always present.

“We are thrilled to know that more and more people are waiting for us, that the tradition and history of our house should put down strong roots to support so much love for music because, clearly, the tree that today is Medio y Medio is the one we invent “We are celebrating 28 years of existence, and our beloved festival, our space, the big tree, is stronger than ever,” Quiroga Ferreres said.

To the direction of the bar this new season, the eighth since its birth, Medio y Medio adds one of the greatest figures in the world of cocktails, the Argentine bartender Martín Suayaowner of JW Bradley in Buenos Aires, awarded Best Bartender of Argentina 2019 and among the top 5 in the world in 2020.
