Nine years after his last show, No doubt have announced their reunion to participate in the traditional Coachella festival, which will take place in California on the weekends of April 12-14 and April 19-21, and will see Lana del Rey, Tyler The Creator and Doja Cat as headliners. The band itself reports this through a video published on its official social networks in which its four original members act in a sort of comical step.
It’s a zoom meeting between singer Gwen Stefani, bassist Tony Kanal, drummer Adrian Young and guitarist Tom Dumont where they consult whether they want to meet up for a show, while their classic “Just a Girl” plays in the background. .
Shortly after this publication, the program of the musical meeting was announced, of which the band is part, which for its part released a statement which reads: “See you in the desert this April!”.
The group had practically been separated for nine years when they offered their last show, although in 2023 they made headlines with the vinyl release of their second album “The Beacon Street Collection”, from 1995.
Additionally, the video for the song “Don’t Speak,” his first major hit, reached one billion views on YouTube and became one of 20 clips from the 1990s to reach that figure.
No Doubt had their worldwide explosion in the mid-90s with their third album “Tragic Kingdom”, which included the aforementioned hits “Don’t Speak” and “Just a Girl”. In 1997, in the middle of the album presentation tour, The band performed at the Ferro stadium, in Caballitoas the opening of David Bowie’s second visit to our country, as part of the Rock and Pop Festival.
With the reunion for Coachella, the band joins an important list of groups that returned to participate in that musical meeting, among which Jane’s Addiction, Pixies, Rage Against the Machine and The Stooges stand out, in addition to the Guns’ version N’ Roses with the historic Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan.
