Lapis Lazuli: what it means and how to activate its healing properties

He lapis lazuli or cyanea is a natural stone used in jewelry since around the 7th century BC, which is why it carries with it hundreds of legends. What does it mean and how to activate its healing properties?

It has a feature ultramarine blue color with a splash of gold, associated by various cultures with supernatural forces.

Its name comes from a derivation of the Latin “lapis” -stone-, and the classical Arabic “lazaward” -king’s curl-.

“Lapis lazuli is a rock used as a (semi-precious) gemstone, composed of lazurite (calcium sodium aluminosilicate), sodalite, calcite and pyrite,” the Wikipedia text states.

In Ancient Egypt it was considered a very important and precious stone, which adorned the sacred beetles and funeral masks. It was also used in powder form in medicine.

In the Middle Ages, lapis lazuli powder provided a characteristic pigment for painters and was used, among others, by Leonardo da Vinci. It was known as “blue gold”.

What does lapis lazuli mean?

Like other semi-precious stones and jewelery gems, they are attributed with energetic and beneficial powers for those who use them as a talisman.

It is one of the most famous in the world, not only for its beautiful color, but for the benefits attributed to it. Those who follow the stories of the stones and their supposed energies say that this gem has the power to protection and healing.

Lapis Lazuli is connected to numerous chakras in the body. And its properties vary from stress relief to emotional and physical harmonization.

It is said that holding these stones can help overcome depression and strengthen well-being immune system, respiratory and nervous.

It is worn over the throat or hung around the neck, which will allow the properties to take effect. Can be used on pendants, bracelets, necklaces or earrings. Whoever carries this stone must remain steadfast in a humble attitude be able to stay away from negative energy.

It also helps the person who uses it in self-knowledge. It is also attributed as a stone that promotes communication and also stimulates prosperity.

How to activate its healing properties

Like all energy stones it has a very particular connection with the moon and the sun.

To clean it and activate its properties, it is recommended to leave it exposed to moonlight during the night, so it can recover its energy. The moon is recommended to be full for more benefits.

Lapis lazuli “gets along” with other energy stones, so to regain strength it can be left together with other semi-precious stones such as rose quartz wave amethyst.

As for its use, depending on what you are looking for, the way in which it should be used varies. If what you want is to attract the good energy at homeso it can be placed as an ornament.

If we want to help healthe stone must be worn as if around the neck so that it can act and activate itself.

It is important to clarify that it should not be subjected to chemical baths or hot water because they could damage it. The best way to clean it is to put it in a glass container at room temperature and wash it white soap gently.

Then remove it and dry it with a dry cloth. In this way any impurities present will disappear.
