The first face-to-face edition of Quilmes The rock for ten years ended with the performances of two of the most important power trios of national rock history: Divided and Catupecu Machu.

Divididos took over after Nathy Peluso’s performative and explosive show, in which the modernity of sound, dominated by incisive bass, raised questions about how the band’s organic audio would be received.

Doubts were dispelled in seconds, once Ricardo Mollo, Diego Arnedo and Catriel Ciavarella they began to take magic from their instruments. Yes, Divided still deserves its “rock steamroller” nickname.

Argentine to death

The presentation began with the national anthem in Mollo’s version with the Mendoza Philharmonic, giving way to the frantic and porteño funk of Sports Horseback Riding. Sonic had a big impact and the public – especially in the general field – recognized the receipt and surrendered to the first pogo.

from there to doing weird things no scales; immediately “exaltation” became the main word of the show.

For an hour they perform a good part of their most powerful repertoire (almost a statue, soul of pudding, elephants in europe and the covers of There is by Sandro and go out in the sun of La Pesada del Rock n Roll) and the experience is still as brutal as it was in the ’90s.

By the time decibels needed to be moderated, those from the West had pulled out two songs that at this point were almost national stone standards: rock spaghetti and the exciting with capital letters thousand pairs.

Every 33.3% of the gang fully does your job: Catriel, became a kind of Argentine John Bonhamhitting the bodies of his drummer as if with an anvil on each arm and still showing a brilliant sense of engraving.

Diego Arnedo (every day more like Al Pacino) is the foundation on which the entire flight of his two companions rests; its vintage touch doesn’t age and the audio seems to have been obtained from a hi fi sound experiment.

Finally, Mollo, the head of the ceremonies, also did everything well and not just in music: his contributions to public communication have always been successful, between complicity, humility and compassion harangue.

level of efficiency

The efficiency level of Divided is very high and thanks to it the songs are fresh, like new.

“A soul travels to the sun” sings Mollo in that sentimental malambo that is 66 poppyfocused on Jorge Castrohistorical manager of the recently deceased band.

After raising the instrumental excerpts, the show will enter its final delivery emotional versions from Crua Chan Y the armored eye of Sumo and giving control to the owners of the end of the show: The 38, Delta wings Y cute little sky (at the request of a fan, where Mollo showed his voice in beautiful shape).

So round three a continuous performancecelebrates a repertoire that despite the years still has many great moments to offer.

the thrill of return

Around 11:00 pm, the video screens of the stage opened, with Catupecu Machu appearing a few minutes later. On the screens, the voice of Gaby, the late bass player and co-founder of the band along with her brother Fernandothat’s why this concert is called “Catupecu All Stars”.

The debut of feelings is secret passagesclassic disc cut headless stories (2000).

Fernando Ruiz Diaz (voice and guitar) who reunited after 20 years with Abril Sosa (drums on the first two albums) is a powerful image: both along with Gabriel Ruiz Díaz pushed Catupecu to become a unique phenomenon in the national rock , which is this strange insect. is not for everyone, but it is all for those who connect with its particular sound and his poetry is as philosophical as it is sentimental.

On their first show in nearly five years, the band passed unknown heroes (from Metropolis), the great perfect chromosome Y pwede ba before making the musicians ’first change in the composition that began in 2007 on the album Labyrinths between edges and dialects.

The sound is “accommodating” already, the repertoire is precise and everything seems to be in its place, except that the naturally verbose Fernando Ruíz Díaz is quieter than usual.

Constant contemplation and staring at the horizon seems to be processed second by second; as if he were a hostage of the situation and the flow of emotion he has not yet found a way to express them.

But the nature of the spirit of Ruiz Díaz and the man in front start to take over the party and now yes, the dedicated public that stayed until the end of this very long day on Sunday is starting to get comfortable.

The guests

“Gaby loves and admires this person” the singer said before being accepted Mr Flaviobassist and co-founder of The Fabulous Cadillacs.

Although I would have given the impression that they would play together Manuel Santillan, the Leonthe selected theme is In your dreama song closely identified with the figure of Gabriel, contender for a characteristic bass arrangement that between Charlie Noguera and Flavio gives different depth. Spiritual intensity rose another notch.

More guests and more emotions: Walas and El Tordo de Massacre join the fine Plan B played for two drummers with April and Julian Gondelldrummer for Vanthra.

Fernando seems to have a sector in his brain where he collects some of the most beautiful phrases of his songs or of the covers he usually does and with that unique advantage he improvises, mixes songs live, makes ethereal sensations.

Almost all the members of the band’s various stages continue to parade on stage, but everyone wants to enjoy seeing Fernando and April together again and fortunately nothing is left missing.

The surrenders of Go for it! at And all I want is for you to step without ground They make the floor of Villa Martelli tremble while Fernando, with tears in his eyes, makes sure he feels “this is the moment where Gaby climbed”.

And ever since the most powerful communion in the evening happening: armed only with a guitar and a floor tom, made by April and Fernando whole or fragmentarythat tribal ballad of lovely beauty and message of value.

The emotional connection is wild and after calling all night, Gabriel’s soul seems to say present at that stage, between his two companions.

For a snap Catupecu is the alien trio again but from the neighborhood, though there are two types on stage.

Two grown men they know how to deal with their demons and silence them in time to continue to enjoy the greatest gift life has to offer them: to be able to perform music in a unique way and thus create an irreplaceable scene, a strange urban cult, a headless story that has become an important page yesterday and apparently not. to be late.
