Ignacio Otero surprised by revealing details of his drastic physical change and significant weight loss after losing 45 pounds in less than eight months.
In an interview with THEY (America, Monday to Friday at 8pm) talked about aspects of his new life, after suffering from the excess weight he had accumulated in recent years.
“I didn’t have a specific moment but I tell you that after the pandemic there was like an existential crisis across the planet. After the pandemic I had an anxiety attack. One morning I woke up to go to the bathroom and I felt dizzy, I don’t know what was happening. “I don’t know if it was the pandemic, I gained a lot of weight,” began the journalist.
“Even though I was already overweight, During the pandemic I weighed 135 kilos and to give you a reference, that’s 45 kilos more than I weigh now, I weigh 90, it’s a lot”, he revealed, proud of having redirected the path towards health.
And very sincerely, he added: “He’s overweight, we’re not talking about a few kilos for clothes, we’re talking about At that time I took 6 pills, being 35 years old at that time.
Regarding the reasons that led him to realize that he had drastically gained weight during the pandemic, Otero emphasized: “The anxiety was generated because when I became a father I began to consider many things. and among these the finiteness…”.
“Because being young is feeling that you will never die. When I was a father and they put my first son, León, in my arms, I have two, a thought came to me that was like an inner voice and it told me “don’t you can die,” “which was terrible because it’s something you can’t control and it made me anxious,” the driver said.
And he added in the interview given for the series that Maite Peñoñori is hosting these days, replacing Ángel de Brito: “During the pandemic, at my age I entered the risk group due to the level of overweight I had: overweight plus prediabetes I started getting active for work matters, I started going out with people, I started doing radio and there came a time when tension came to my body and my health improved because I snored and had sleep apnea and my wife was shaking me.and continued to sleep.
“At work, being called fat didn’t affect me, but the moment I got depressed was when someone told me ‘I’m telling you for your own good, you’re fat and you need to lose weight,’ I already know that,” he said. explained Nacho when talking about the major difficulties he had to face due to his health problems.
Finally he admitted: “The point where it struck me the most was when I went shopping, because with 45 extra kilos there are no suitable clothes. and this is wrong because it’s one thing that you have a problem and another thing is that you can’t get dressed.”

At the beginning of January, Ignacio Otero surprised his followers by sharing a publication on his Instagram account in which he showed photos of himself from 2021 and then 2023 with the shocking physical change he has undergone.
“Over the past year, many have asked me what I did to lose weight or even if I was healthy. The answer is: I’m better than ever!”, the journalist said.
“But not long ago I was sick. I abandoned myself, I gained a lot of weight and I ended up weighing 135 kg. After an anxiety crisis that brought me to breaking point I decided to change my life”, she continued.
And he explained in detail what the formula was for staying healthy every day: “What did I do? Keto diet, intermittent fasting, training and going back to playing tennis. These were the things that worked for me. However, they are not the only ones.” that work and everyone can choose their own tools.
