Guys, the people’s filmwith Guillermo Francella as a voice-over narrator, which was the most watched Argentine film in theaters in 2023 – despite being released on December 7 – is now also available in streaming.
The film, one of two on the consecration of the Scaloneta, is available from Sunday on Star+ and also on Disney+. So far in 2024, as of yesterday, Sunday, 194,279 spectators have seen it in theaters, which places it in fifth place in the ranking for the year.
And if we add the tickets sold in 2023 (896,002), we arrive at the record figure of 1,090,281 tickets sold.
The other movie I choose to believewith stories by Ricardo Darín, is now streaming on HBO Max. Again according to Ultracine data, 456,725 spectators saw it in cinemas, also up until yesterday Sunday and since its premiere on December 7th.
How is the movie?
The film comes to an end Boys of the song that has become the emblem of the passage of the Argentine football team to the World Cup in Qatar in 2022. And yes, it has both the “boys” mostly on the playing field, and many fans, who suffer and celebrate in Qatar and Argentina.
The documentary film, directed by Jesús Braceras (Monsoon, Barrabrava), begins with a sort of mea culpa, remembering how many no longer wanted to see Lionel Messi wear the national team shirt, after the frustrations accumulated in continental tournaments (Copa América) or in the World Cup. The lost finals were like thorns that were difficult to remove.
Messi, of course, is one of the exclusive protagonists of the film. On the one hand we remember that shortly after 1986, when we won the second World Cup, Lionel Messi -In reality almost a year had passed since the victory against Germany, because he was born on 24 June 1987-. Let’s talk about that left-handed child, let’s see that little creature who as a child shows his art, leaving players in his way and scoring goals.
The frustrations of the World Cup and the Copas América end when the goal scored by Angel Di María arrives at the Maracaná, which consecrates the national team as champions of America in 2021. And so, yes, a thorn has arrived.
There was another one, the World Cup. And that’s where he goes, with archive images, remembering the triumphs (Argentina ’78 and Mexico ’86) with the frustrations (Brazil 2014, which lost the final against Germany).
