Boyd met Harrison when he was part of the cast of the Beatles movie A night of a hard day (1964), where they both felt an immediate connection, according to what was stated in an interview.

He was quite shy, like me.. I think that’s why we got along well,” Boyd explains in an interview on the bidding company’s website.

The two married in January 1966 after a two-year courtship.

Letters and messages she sent him when she was with the Beatles will also be auctioned.

Long distance love

George was lovely when he was away.. “He missed me terribly and I missed him, and he wrote me some great letters and wonderful cards,” Boyd revealed.

In one of those letters, the musician says things like this: “I hope you’re doing well. I miss you. I’m starving, lots of grilled cheese sandwiches. I love you”.

As for Clapton, who later fell in love with Harrison’s wife, it is known that he often visited the couple at their residence in the English county of Surrey. During that period The guitarist began to have “deep feelings” for his friend’s wife.

In 1970 Clapton wrote a letter – which will be up for auction – in which he told the model he wanted to “assure himself” of his feelings “on a matter well known to us both”.

What I would like to ask you is whether you still love your husband.. All these questions are very impertinent, I know, but if there is still any feeling in your heart towards me, you must tell me,” Clapton pleads in the letter, in which he adds a complicated sentiment: “Don’t call me on the phone. Send me a letter – it’s much safer“.

It seems that, at first, Boyd attributed the message to a fan although Clapton would later clarify its origin.

Layla and Clapton’s doubts

In another letter from the guitarist sent months later, written on the back of a page from John Steinbeck’s novel Of mice and menClapton tells him: “Dear Layla (diminutive with which the artist addressed her). Why do you doubt, I’m a bad lover, I’m ugly“I’m too weak, too strong, do you know why?”

If you want me, take me, I’m yours. Otherwise, please break the spell that blinds me. Caging a wild animal is a sin, taming it is divine. My love is yours,” adds Clapton, who later wrote the song Layla in honor of the model.

Although Pattie had initially rejected the latter’s claims, after the collapse of her marriage to Harrison in the 1970s, she decided to get together with Clapton, whom she married in 1979 without any hard feelings from George. The couple lasted ten years.
