There is great sorrow in folklore: Daniel Campos has died. The former Los Guaraníes singer was 48 years old and hospitalized in a hospital in Córdoba. He had been battling colon cancer for some time.
The bad news spread through Cadena 3, where Nacho Prado, a musician with whom he had shared stages and friendship, said loudly and clearly: “Unfortunately Daniel Campos has just left us.” Apparently, the interpreter’s health had deteriorated significantly in recent days.
His career began as a soloist, but his work as a restless singer led him to want to form Los Guaraníes, in Córdoba. There he combined his talent with Luis Ignacio “Nacho” Prado. Both gave birth to a group that has left its mark and dates back to the early 90s, when Argentine folklore had a rebirth thanks to La Sole. Martín Rodríguez, Carlos Striglío and Cristian Oses planted the seed. A few months later Campos would join.
Soledad Pastorutti, the singer from Arequito, was installing a new way of hearing folklore. His swinging poncho generated a boom that didn’t just carry inside. Campos came from that move. In 1995, with their first album, Los Guaraníes got their first performance at the Cosquín festival. In 1996 they participated in the Jesús María festival.
Prado and Campos later opened up to create the duo “Nacho y Daniel”. Curious, in his own experimental way, Campos had parallel paths with “Los Nombradores del Alba”, together with Facundo Toro. Furthermore, in 2010 they recorded together a tribute to Daniel Toro and Los Cantores del Alba where classics of the genre such as autumn serenade, My little prince OR May a paw never be missing.

The website of the National Institute of Music published a short but moving post on his career. Even the networks expressed themselves with profound sadness and respect: “Daniel Campos, known perhaps only by folklore lovers, one of the most wonderful voices that this country has given us, has died”. More. “His father was the author of Autumn and my sadness and today, as autumn begins, his son dies.”
Another post: “With deep regret and dismay, we regret the death of Daniel Campos, who left this world today, at 8.30 am, in the city of Córdoba, leaving an indelible void in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of know him.”
It emerged that in the last few hours the singer had been the subject of prayer chains from family, friends and followers. Furthermore, a solidarity group was held specifically dedicated to raising funds for the difficult treatments he was undergoing.
On the networks, at this moment, there are memories of guitars and beautiful zamba in which father and son enjoyed together the music they liked best. The musician’s remains will rest in his native Salta.
