In the midst of the difficult situation that Argentine actors and television are going through, Gabriel “El Puma” Goity (63) expressed his point of view on the issue and ended up criticizing Big Brothercalling reality “a scoundrel”.
The actor was visiting several media outlets, in the midst of the promotional tour of his new work “Cyrano”. As part of those interviews, Goity visited the radio show Moskita dead (La Once/Diez) where they asked him what he felt watching television full of reality shows, when he knew it was home to various fiction.
Then, the Puma responded: “He seems like a scoundrel to me”. “A program like Big Brother It’s subversive“, He added.
“They ruin people for TV commercials, to sell,” added the actor, strongly criticizing the production. “They don’t act, I see how they talk to each other and It seems terrifying to me“Goity continued to relate.
Then, he defended the participants who signed up for the program, always going against the creators of the reality show: “Those poor and innocent people who many think are characters but they are people. They are innocent people going on an empty stomach and eager to succeed.”.
“And when the show ends… Oh my God! They renounce their image, their nakedness, they abandon everything. They destroy them to sell them“he added, criticizing the way the production prioritizes publicity over participants: “There comes a scene where they’re really arguing and they’re focusing on a shampoo they’re sponsoring.”
And he closed: “The way narrative is being allowed to die seems scandalous and terrifying to me.”
Puma Goity has expressed his opinion on the lack of drama on television
Continuing with the interview on the radio program, Puma Goity criticized the disappearance of dramas from Argentine television. In particular, he lashed out at the channels’ production companies, who accuse the actors of demanding a lot of money.
“Actors are not expensive, what happens is that there was a lot of nonsense with the fictions here. Argentine authors write abroad because they pay little here,” she began by explaining.
Then he questioned projects, from novels to plays, that hire influencers to form their team. “They put together casts with kids with followers. In ‘Cyrano’ there are actors and actresses who have studied and get their hearts broken, these are not kids with followers,” he added, visibly angry.
“The last programs that failed were those kids. Then fictions are shit because they are called good actors but without a good book they don’t work. It’s not that fiction doesn’t work, it’s that they don’t work at it as in ‘The one who commands’“, he added, praising the series in which he is the protagonist Guillermo Francella.
To close, he judged those who decide not to hire him: “They say ‘Goity is complicated because he wants to win with dignity, because he wants to try, because the book scares you, then it’s better to call this kid, who can’t believe he’s in front of a camera, that he has followers, and that Work for a patty and a coke and let’s see what happens‘”.
