As public TV continues to cancel programs on its signal, Diana Zurco, the first trans woman to host a news program, said goodbye to her program. The journalist gave an emotional speech after being suspended from the broadcast.
Diana began her career studying broadcasting and journalism at ISER and has since made history for her fight for inclusion and representation in the media, challenging all stereotypes and prejudices.
“I hope to find them again, maybe on the radio, on graphics or on another screen, why not”, began Zurco in his last program on air.
His farewell came on the same day as the last live broadcast of Argentine chefsthe historic culinary program on Public TV which was also cancelled.
Furthermore, he took the opportunity to send a message to his viewers: “Above all, I want to thank you for the love, affection and I believe we will always be in communication wherever we are.”
On the other hand, he spoke directly about the present that has crossed the channel since the beginning of Javier Milei’s government: “Thanks to Public TV for opening its doors to me more than four years ago, It was a historic opportunity. The visibility was marked.”
“I always remember the first text from some guy or girl on the other side of the country telling me “Diana, if you could do it, I can do it too”. And today there are many boys and girls who study whatever career they choose. If I can do it, anyone can do it. With effort, study and sacrifice anything can be achieved”, continued the journalist.
In closing, Diana had to contain her emotion to be able to say her words. “I don’t want to be the first trans news anchor, but it was my turn in history to do so that tomorrow it will no longer be new and that it will be something completely naturalized“, he concluded.
Diana Zurco thus announced the end of her news program
A few days ago Zurco shared a post on social media in which he explained the decision taken by Public TV cancel the news program he hosted weekend.

I can tell it because it is already a fact and because my commitment has always been alongside the public and deserves an explanation, “she explained in the extensive message.
Regarding his future work, he assured that it is uncertain: “I regret not being able to answer many questions that come to me privately. These are complex days full of uncertainties, which requires prudence and respect on my part. In these days the situation of my continuity will be defined. Whatever happens, they will find out because it will definitely be made public. “I don’t forget what I mean as one of the figures of the channel for more than 4 years.”
“I am a responsible PROFESSIONAL and an absolute worker who works for the public channel. My role has always been and is INFORM. “Bring as little contaminated information as possible, lead, present the news”, she added, speaking of her journalistic work, and underlined the importance of her role: “I capitalized on the prestige and earned the respect of both society at large and my large #LGBT community. as well as many collaborators and colleagues from various media.
