Without giving up the successes of the first quarter of the year, The fourth month of 2024 arrives with a good flow of previews to refresh the series catalogs on different platforms streaming.
April offers a large number of titles, but not all of them are worth recommending. Here, a selection of ten that are worth iteven if there is nothing written about tastes.
On top of the news in episode format there are fall (a television adaptation of the hit video game of the same name), Ripley AND The sympathizerPulitzer-winning novel Viet Thanh Nguyen.
1) Relapse
Prime Video, from Wednesday 11th
It’s about scripted adaptation of the famous video game which has fascinated several generations. A post-apocalyptic story with touches of dark humor, starring Ella Purnell (Lucy), who struggles to adapt to the dangerous world of the wasteland. Sarita Choudhury, as Moldaver, and Ma June, as Dale Dickey, accompany her in this production of 8 episodes.
2) The sympathizer
HBO, from Monday 15th
The series is Inspired by the novel of the same name by Viet Thanh Nguyen, winner of the Pulitzer Prize. It is a spy thriller and a cross-cultural satire that features its cast Robert Downey Junior. Created by the prestigious Korean director Park Chan-wook, it consists of seven episodes.
3) Parasite: the Greys
Netflix, from Friday 5th
South Korean series directed by Yeon Sang-Ho and starring Jun So-Nee about the invasion of mysterious parasites that fall from the sky.
4) Sugar
Apple TV+, from Friday 5th
Definitively joining the already consolidated trend of great cinematographic actors installed in series format, Colin Farrell gets involved – with this eight-episode drama – as private detective John Sugar, tasked with investigating the disappearance of Olivia Siegel, granddaughter of legendary Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel.
Kirby, Amy Ryan and James Cromwell are part of this fiction, which will offer previews in batches. The first three episodes will arrive this Friday and then one will go every Friday.
5) Acquitted
Flow, from Thursday 25th
Captivating Norwegian series with Nicolai Cleve Broch: After success in Asia, businessman Aksel Borgen must return to his native Norway to save a local company. Having overcome 20 years since he was convicted, and then acquitted, for (allegedly) killing his teenage girlfriend. Not everyone receives it well. Its original title is Frikjent.
6) Iwaju
Disney+, from Wednesday 10th
The infant cutting board is engaged in a picturesque and magical natural environment – Africa. In his new animated series, offers an adventurous story that transfers the action to a futuristic Lagos, the capital of Nigeria. It features the young Tola and her best friend, Kole, a technology expert.
7) Fine arts
Star+, from Wednesday 11th
From the creators of Nothing AND The one in chargenow comes this story that delves into the world of art and revolves around a manager played by Oscar Martinez. The comedy by the Argentinians Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat has six episodes that last approximately thirty minutesideal for the marathon, as happened with Nothingagile production with Luis Brandoni and Robert De Niroon the same platform.
Martínez will be accompanied by a large Spanish cast: Aixa Villagran (we saw it here The Snow Maiden AND Perfect life), the great Angela Molina, Ana Wagener (The other look) and Dani Rovira (the film Eight Basque surnames or the series B&B).
8) Crime scene: night death in Berlin
Netflix, from Wednesday 3
Arriving this week is the documentary miniseries about a series of crimes that shook Berlin’s nightlife in 2012. Directed by Caroline Schaper and Jan Zabeil.
9)Benjamin Franklin
Apple TV+, from Friday the 12th
It marks the return of Michael Douglas to the screens. This miniseries eight episodes faces the greatest challenge of this historical figure’s career. In December 1776, Franklin is known throughout the world for his experiments with electricity, but he is commissioned to travel to France to support the United States’ experiment in democracy. Excellent work of period recreation.
10) Ripley
Netflix, from Thursday 4
A new version of the famous story of Patricia Highsmithbrought to the cinema in titles such as Full sun OR The talent of Mr. Ripley. In this case it is Andrew Scott who plays the charismatic con man which was performed by Alain Delon and Matt Damon. It consists of eight chapters.
