It’s already the middle of the first week of filming Robert DeNiro in the series Whateverdirecting Mariano Cohn and Gaston Dupratand where the actor of study me Y The mission share cast head with Louis Brandoni.

And it’s time to count on the comfort the 78-year-old New Yorker has, who in the plot plays Vincent, an old friend of Manuel’s (Brandoni) whom he visits in Buenos Aires when the Argentine is going through a personal crisis.

The comedy, produced by Metrovisión, will air next year on Star+ in Argentina, Disney’s “adult” streaming signal.

Motorhome with 80-inch TV and electric bed

Yesterday, Wednesday, it was possible to see and better appreciate the comforts that the two-Oscar-winning actor, who for the first time has agreed to join a series in his vast career, has. Although he travels from the Four Seasons hotel aboard a black Mercedes Benz van, driven by an Argentine driver, De Niro has a motorhome, a trailer where he rests with stunning dimensions and interior.

What goes unnoticed is the massive motorhome, which is camouflaged as war. It is yellow and has green and brown spots. Inside, it looks like a five-star hotel suite. It has a double bed two meters wide, reclined, electric, an 80-inch screen and 8K, covering an entire wall, an Expresso coffee maker, with coffee beans brought from Italy.

And with her on set are two more motorhomes, one for makeup and another costume, exclusive to her.

In addition, she has a specialized catering car, a food truck where her chef prepares food exclusively for her, as she follows a special diet. He eats meat, but mixed with cooked and raw vegetables, and has not tasted flour.

And if anything he loses in Buenos Aires, it’s sweet, especially knowing he’s a fan, but a bad fan of dulce de leche ice cream. So he spends his time asking where to try — and pick up — the best ice cream, the one with the best flavor, and its varieties.

We didn’t lie when we said that on Monday De Niro shared lunch with the technical team and some producers, and ate beef steak with salads. It was a courtesy on his part: many team members. And in the few free moments that left him filming, because he was filming a lot of time, he stepped away and devoted himself to making phone calls. As everyone does in one shoot.

An entourage just for him

De Niro has assistants exclusively dedicated to serving him, in addition to those assigned by the Argentine production. His crew, his personal team, which hails from New York, besides Manny -Emanuel Núñez, his friend and former agent- consists of a hairdresser, a makeup artist, two costume designers, a personal trainner, three assistants (two men and a woman) and a cook, and we don’t know if we’ve forgotten yet.

What do the three helpers do? Different functions are distributed. One receives their calls, calls by phone and along with mails; someone else does the logistics, for example, if she wants to go to lunch with her partner, Tiffany Chen, a martial arts instructor, and their little 10-year-old daughter Helen Grace-who has surrogate mother when she was with her husband Grace Hightower – and this is the link to the Argentine production. The third is keeping up to date with your work in the United States, your other labor issues.

A tiring day

This Wednesday is the most tiring day of all that filming needs Whatever -De Niro began on Monday, May 2, but the series began filming a week before.

Robert De Niro continues to surprise everyone. Although it was recorded very early, he was always ready 15 minutes before. That is, already dressed and organized, waiting for orders to film.

There are many extras at the Faena Art Center, and everything around the hotel has been cut off — many streets need yardage —, as the photos prove. There were cranes outside, because sunlight, sunlight had to be maintained, so the lighting had to be even, and the lights were thrown from the outside to the second floor, where the big auditorium was where the film was shot. scene of the presentation of the book written by Manuel, the character of Luis Brandoni.

There are 250 extras, all very well dressed, scheduled for 5 p.m. The extras really applaud the work, because they’re there all day, and they can’t get away: they have to stay because otherwise the continuity of what’s seen on camera is lost. And now, Thursday, both will return. At least they could sleep longer: the call was an hour and a half later, at 6:30.

De Niro, with burger joint

At noon, Robert De Niro and the directors, Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat, headed to a well -known hamburger restaurant in the area, in Puerto Madero. Luis Brandoni is not in the game.

Did people know him? Not everyone there noticed his presence, because whenever De Niro goes to a restaurant, they set up a special section for him, a section.

Brandoni was completely naked

The scenes shot this Wednesday match the presentation of the book by Manuel, a gastronomic critic. The extras, who entered the large room, were confused.

This is the cover of the book, whose title is the same as in the series: Nothing, has a picture of Luis Brandoni naked. And, as happens with any editorial release, there are giant banners with a picture of the actor, 82 years old, completely naked.

To understand this, let’s be graphic: Brandoni is sitting, and taken with the camera in such a way that no one can see.

What is the scene about? The characters, Vincent and Manuel, are both on the auditorium stage. The hall, immense and luxurious, convinces one that the Nobel Prize winner’s book has been launched. The people, the extras, dressed up. This is an important scene.

We have already discussed that Vincent, De Niro’s character, speaks three languages in the series: English, Italian and Spanish. Yesterday he first read, in English, a portion of the book, and then he had a looser text, as if commenting, mixing up words in Italian. This is when Vincent speaks in a colloquial way, he puts words in Italian and a little in Spanish.

Sausage

What did De Niro talk about at the book launch? of sausage Vincent read excerpts from a chapter of Nada, in which Manuel speaks specifically about cured Argentine meat. Manuel was sarcastic, so he wrote that “chorizo is not bad, even if it has a lot of fat because it eats and is fun”, as can be heard in the auditorium, that it is good and has side effects. in health. Or save the choripán.

Is De Niro doing anything? Yes, he improvises, and he gets angry when they come up with sudden ideas outside of the script.

i don’t like pictures

De Niro is very strict on the subject of photographs, but apparently not because of his image, because he is poorly portrayed, but because he does not want to be disturbed over and over again.

And we already know how pushy people are on the subject of pictures.

That’s why the production told the 250 extras and the members of the huge technical team – about 150 people, and we’re not exaggerating – that photography is completely forbidden.

On Saturday he will also be filming

For this week there are three days of shooting, as they will also be filming on Saturday. There are outstanding locations in the heart of Buenos Aires, on Avenida de Mayo, in Bajo, on Paseo Colón, and in Palermo. The idea of the production is to show a lot of the city, not just in a tourist sense, but to make it look beautiful. Elegant.

There are many outdoor locations left, which will make the task difficult. because when Vincent and Manuel had to cross a street it would be a massive paraphernalia, due to road closure plans.

Today, Thursday, May 5, they will be filming again at the Hotel Faena, in Puerto Madero, and at least until noon. Then, they move to another neighborhood of Buenos Aires.
