Every day they raise the microphone, their guitars sound louder and their voices resonate on more stages. Hundreds of women are fighting to win more places on the rock scene. They were no longer pioneers in the industry, but they came to change things.
After a lot of effort, it becomes more and more common line up with the presence of a woman. Artists will be strong in 2022 with performances at major festivals such as Cosquin Rock and the Quilmes Rock. While many acknowledge that, although progress has been remarkable, inequality still exists and there is a way to go.
The Quota Law, which requires at least 30% female presence on the total grid of a festival and approved in 2019, it is a good base that has allowed emerging artists to create and focus on the lack of diversity that has been criticized by many.

At Quilmes Rock
The recent edition of Quilmes Rock 2022 has great exponents such as Celeste Carballo, Agos Nisi, Wiranda Johansen, Sara Hebe, Nathy Peluso and bands like Eruca Sativa which promoted the voice of the entire rock community.
This first step is exciting for artists like Wiranda Johansen: “I’ve seen a lot of incredible women in the line up and I’m excited. Hopefully not always struggle, but it still is. A woman is not validated as much as a man and other things are expected. There’s a lot more to do, this is just the beginning. “
