“Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief”, first book in the series written by Rick Riordanfollows a teenager discovering that all the bizarre things that happened in his childhood, like being expelled from school several times and even being attacked by the teacher, were caused by him being the son of god Poseidon. Because of this, he ends up in a camp for half-bloods – the children of Greek gods with humans -, where he learns to control his divine powers and embarks on several adventures.
“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” had already been announced in 2020, but since then many negotiations have taken place until Disney officially ordered the production. Riordan and Jon Steinberg write the pilot episode that will be directed by James Bodin (“Alice Through the Looking Glass” and “The Mysterious Society Benedict”).
The premiere date has not yet been announced.
