Marvel Studios Introduced New Character to the Film’s Post-Credits Scene
Warning, the text below contains spoilers for “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”:
Every big fan knows that Marvel always reserves some special surprises in their post-credits scenes and those who made a point of waiting for all the names to come up in the “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” session may meet a new MCU character.
The film has two extra scenes, but the big surprise that the studio prepared was revealed in the first. The scene shows Doctor Strange walking through the streets of New York when he is surprised by a woman in a purple uniform, accusing him of having caused an incursion into another universe and he needs to fix it. She then rips a piece of reality with her magic blade and opens a portal, and summons/forces him to accompany her to another location in the multiverse.
This mysterious character is the clealived by the actress Charlize Theron (“Mad Max: Fury Road”). In the comics, she is the niece of dormammu (yes, that monster Strange bargained with countless times in his first solo movie) and lives with him in a Dark Dimension.
created by created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Clea first appeared in the comics in “Strange Tales #126”. The character is introduced as Doctor Strange’s love interest and as we’ve seen Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams) by marrying another man, it could be that Stephen gets involved with Clea in her next project.
But not only that, Clea is also the Sorceress Supreme of the Dark Dimension and with that, she has the great ability to manipulate various magical forces. The character has many powers: the ability to telekinesis with mind control, can transport herself to different realities with the magic blade, do conjuration, transmutation and even cast magic rays.
It is not yet known what adventure that Clea and Stephen Strange will live together will be, but Marvel has already confirmed that Doctor Strange will return in their next projects.
