Glauber Rocha’s film was selected for the 75th Cannes Film Festival
The restored 4K copy of “Deus e o Diabo na Terra do Sol”, a film by the Brazilian filmmaker Glauber Rocha released in 1964, had its official teaser released this Friday (13) by the Splash website. Watch the preview:
The feature film was selected to be screened at the 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival at the Cannes Classics show. The session will be dedicated to classic works and the preservation of the world’s cinematographic heritage. According to the festival, which takes place on the French Riviera, the screening of the Brazilian film will take place on May 18, at 4 pm, in Sala Buñuel.
In 2019, after years of deep diving into the history of Brazilian cinema, the producer Lino Meireles joined the director Paloma Rochadaughter of Glauber, to restore in 4K version the movie “God and the Devil in the Land of the Sun”. The project was completed in 2022, more than 40 years after the death of the Bahian director.
