Dominique Fortier was nominated for Prince Pierre of the Monaco Prize

Quebec author Dominique Fortier is running to win the prestigious Prince Pierre of the Monaco Prize. The literary council of the Foundation drew up, Wednesday, in Paris, the list of finalists for this prize which rewards an author or an author of French expression for all his work.

In recent years, this distinction, created in 1951, has already honored Michel Tremblay (2017), Christian Bobin (2020) and Annie Ernaux (2021).

Dominique Fortier, who recently published the novel The white shadowshas been awarded the Prix Renaudot de l’essai for paper towns as well as the Governor General’s Award for In danger of the sea.

It is not possible to apply for the Prince Pierre of the Monaco Prize; the selection process is fully conducted by the Foundation’s literary council.

It consists of ten members of the French Academy, including Dany Laferrière, four members of the Goncourt Academy, four representatives of French -speaking writers, as well as three honorary members.

Writers Marie-Hélène Lafon, Michel del Castillo, Louis-Philippe Dalembert, Vénus Khoury-Ghata were also nominated.

The name of the winner will be announced on October 11, 2022 at the Opéra Garnier in Monaco. The prize was accompanied by a scholarship of 25,000 euros (33,600 Canadian dollars).
