Vangelis, the musician who formed Blade Runner and Chariots of Fire, has passed away

Vangelis, the Greek electronic musician won an Oscar for his memorable score chariot of fire and whose credits are included bladerunner Y blade runner 2049died on Tuesday, May 17, according to reports from the Athens News Agency and Guardian. He is 79 years old.

He was nominated three times for a Grammy in the category of New Age Album and Record of the Year for chariot of fire.

As he used to do, Vangelis performed all the instruments, including synthesizer, piano, drums and percussion, and his memorable theme not only enhanced the film but, as a soundtrack, reached no. 1 of the charts Billboard.

Evangelos Odessey Papathanassiou was born in Greece, his parents enrolled him in the Athens School of Music at the age of 6, where he was about to give a concert. She was a member of the progressive rock band Aphrodite’s Child and enjoyed a long career in European pop music before the colors and textures of her solo albums in the 1970s caught the attention of film and television producers.
