The trial for the defamation case filed by Johnny Depp against his ex -wife Amber heard returns to Depp’s themes of jealousy and drug abuse.
Bruce Witkin, a musician who has been friends with Depp for nearly 40 years, said the actor showed jealousy in their romantic relationships decades ago. “She must be tainted with jealousy.”Witkin said in a video statement recorded in February and played in court today, Thursday, May 20th.
Depp showed some of the jealousy during his relationship with Vanessa Paradis, his partner of 14 years, “and a lot of it was in his head and not in reality,” Witkin said.

Depp’s jealousy also started when he was with Heard and he was shooting a movie “or doing something where he wasn’t there to see what was going on,” Witkin said. “I think he’s nervous.”

Witkin said he once saw bruises on Heard’s arm when he and Depp were working on a documentary about the Rolling Stones guitarist, Keith Richards. And he saw Depp with a “sore lip” on another occasion. But Witkin said he did not directly see Depp or Heard physically attacking the other.

Depp sued Heard in Fairfax County Circuit Court in Virginia over a December 2018 op-ed by Heard in the daily newspaper. Washington Postwhere the actress described herself as “a public figure representing domestic abuse.” Depp’s lawyers said the article defamed the actor despite not mentioning his name. The trial is now in its fifth week.
Depp says he didn’t hurt Heard and he abused him. But Heard’s lawyers maintain that Depp physically and sexually abused their client, and say the actor’s denials lack credibility because he often drinks and drinks drugs to the point of fainting and can no longer remember whatever he did.
Witkin said he tried to help Depp with his drug abuse and he contacted a therapist. “He was like, ‘I’ll be fine. I’ll be fine.’ And well, you’re not fine, ”Witkin said, recalling a conversation.
