Creators of “Stranger Things” Matt and Ross Duffer, better known as the Duffer brothers, are already developing a spin-off to expand the series’ universe. According to the duo, they have a “very, very different” idea for the project and only one person knows what it’s all about: Finn Wolfhard.

“We have an idea for a spin-off that we’re super excited about… but we haven’t told anyone about the idea yet, let alone written it.” told in an interview with Variety. “We think everyone – including Netflix – will be surprised when they hear the concept, because it’s very, very different. But somehow Finn Wolfhard – who is a crazy, smart kid – guessed correctly what it would be about. But apart from Finn, no one else knows!”

Netflix and the creators of the series still haven’t given a premiere date, and of course, they haven’t released the synopsis either. The project should only go into production after “Stranger Things” is officially finished, which will happen in the fifth season.

Season four will be set six months after the Battle of Starcourt, which wreaked havoc on Hawkins. “As they continue to deal with the aftermath, the group of friends part ways for the first time – and navigating the complexities of school doesn’t make things any easier. In this most vulnerable moment, a new, even more terrifying supernatural threat emerges, bringing a great mystery that, if solved, could be the key to ending the horrors of the Upside Down.”says the official synopsis released by Netflix.

The new episodes feature the actors’ returns Milly Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Wynona Ryder, David Harbor, Joe Keery and Maya Hawke.

The fourth season of “Stranger Things” will be divided into two volumes, with the first wave of episodes arriving on Netflix on May 27, 2022. Volume 2 enters the catalog of streaming approximately a month later, on the 1st of July.
