Season 1 of “Andor” will have 12 episodes, a second season has already been confirmed
“Andor”, the prequel series to “Rogue One”, had a teaser and premiere date released this Thursday (26) on Star Wars social media.
The series will launch on Disney+ on August 31 with two episodes, 12 in total. O showrunner Tony Gilroy stated during Star Wars Celebration that the series will still have a second season.
In “Rogue One”, Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) sacrificed himself in the name of the galaxy. Now, the series that takes place years before the spin off will show how he got to this place. “The first season is all about that: how he’s really revolution-averse, cynical, lost, and kind of messed up.“, explained Tony Gilroyscreenwriter of “Andor”.
“Andor” begins with the destruction of the protagonist’s home planet and, although he tries to escape from it, he will eventually realize that he cannot do this forever. The main setting of the season will be the planet he has adopted as his home, from where he will observe the radicalization up close and the rapid expansion of the Empire.
Rebel leader Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) is also back in the universe. According to the magazine, Mothma’s story will unfold in parallel with Cassian Andor’s, but the expectation is that they will meet. After all, he becomes at some point an essential agent for her journey.
The first season of “Andor” will have 12 episodes and will air on Disney+. watch the teaser:
