Goldberg said Huth and Samuelson, who will be the first witnesses in the trial, went to Lacy Park in San Marino, California, most likely in March 1975 to play Frisbee when they met on the film’s set. Let’s do it again (Two lucky tricks), which Cosby was shooting with Sidney Poitier.

The two whispered excitedly when they saw Cosby, and the comedian mocked their whispers when he saw them.

“He was absolutely friendly,” Goldberg said.

What happened days later

Cosby invited the girls to meet him a few days later in a tennis club, where made them play pool and the loser had a beer. Goldberg said Huth had to drink at least one beer, but he couldn’t remember how many he drank in total.

Without saying where they were going, Cosby went in his car and took the girls to the Playboy Mansion.

Goldberg said that before Cosby abused Huth, she had put her hands on Samuelson’s shoulder, but she “made it clear to him that it wasn’t fair.”

Samuelson was inadvertently playing when the abuse occurred in the room, but Huth told him about it as soon as Cosby left them alone, and will tell the same story he later heard on the stand this week, Goldberg said.

The abuse immediately led to emotional problems for Huth.

“She was no longer the happy girl she had been,” Goldberg said.

He “buried” his feelings for decades, Goldberg said, but they soon returned and he suffered from severe anxiety. Feelings heightened as Huth’s son reached the age he was when the accident occurred. and when similar stories began to emerge about Cosby.

Two women will testify of similar experiences with Cosby when they were teenagers, about the same year Huth met him.

In his opening argument, Goldberg tried to address some potential defense arguments.

He pointed out that after 47 years, Samuelson and Huth’s stories may differ on some details.

How to remember so many years later

“They don’t remember everything exactly the same,” Goldberg said. “If they did, it would be suspicious.”

He said some previously stated details, such as Huth remembering playing Donkey Kong, which was only invented years later, in the Playboy Mansion arcade. they didn’t mean that the main elements of the story were wrong.

“He didn’t quite get the name of the game, what does it matter?” Goldberg said.

Cosby will not participate in the trial and will not be called to testify.. Parts of the video statement, which he released shortly after the filing of the case, will be presented to the jury.

The Associated Press typically does not name people who claim to have been sexually abused, unless they speak out publicly as Huth did.
