A happy morning for the police in Sherbrooke

What looks like a simple road accident mobilized several police in Sherbrooke on Thursday morning.

At around 6:30 a.m., a citizen called police to warn that an accident had occurred on rue du Verger in east Sherbrooke and that the driver of the vehicle was about to leave.

Arriving at the scene, patrollers turned on flashing lights to proceed with blocking the vehicle. The driver refused to stop and accelerated down rue du Conseil. He finally lost control of his car and ended his career at 14e South Avenueexplanation of the spokesman for the Service de police de Sherbrooke, Benoît Pellerin.

The driver got out of his car and fled. He finally found himself in the back of a shelter in the areaadded Benoît Pellerin.

The 26-year-old driver, known to police groups, was taken to hospital with minor injuries. A blood sample will also be taken.

The suspect will show up at Sherbrooke courthouse during the day. He is expected to face charges of dangerous driving, driving disability, hit and run, obstructing police work and violating his bail conditions.
