BTS, the most important band of Korean K-pop style and world pop, have announced the beginning of a hiatus period in which each member will have solo projects. And however much they deny it, fans fear that BTS will disband. His legion of followers, known as BTS ARMY, are in shock.

After more than a decade together and many hits and records behind them, BTS broke the news at their traditional annual fan dinner on June 13, the anniversary of their creation. There, as is tradition for this date, his followers receive gifts such as songs, merchandise and even a video in which the band members are seen eating and celebrating their anniversary.

At that meeting known as FESTA, it was RM who took the floor and announced that it was time for everyone to work “alone” and thus develop their solo career.

The Korean band formed at the beginning of the last decade and consisted of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook. Despite having been together since 2010, their official debut came in 2013 and the K-pop band hasn’t split up since. Until now.

“We’re not breaking up, we’re just taking time apart” were SUGA’s words when it became known that Bangtan was taking a break.

The one who talked about it the most and was quite impressed by it was RM, for many the leader of the group. He didn’t hide his sadness and towards the end he cried.

Jimin, for his part, also explained the situation and asked ARMY to accompany them in this new phase, which officially begins with J-Hope’s show at the next Lollapalooza.

What else did the BTS members say?

RM: “After releasing the singles Butter & Permission to dance, at this point, we have lost our direction and I just want to take some time to think. We never know how long we’ll be together, but I hope we last a long time. And even if we can’t act / act as well as we have in the past, I always want to be the RM of BTS. “

Jin: “Having been a group for so long, I feel like I’ve become a machine. I also have my hobbies and things I want to do on my own.”

SUGA: “It’s not like we will break up, we will live apart for a while”

J-Hope: “I hope they don’t see it as something negative and see it’s a healthy plan.”

Jimin: “I’m working on a song. We talk about it a lot together, but we can’t say everything directly and sometimes it’s very sad and difficult, but if you accept our words as they are, that would be great.”

V: “I had already discussed it with Hobi. We could focus on our solo work this time and then when we meet again as a group, that synergy will be like no other. We will be better than before.”

Jung Kook: “You have been with us for almost 10 years. Each of us will take the time to have fun and experience many things.”

Sales record in 2021

In March of this year, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) today released the balance of sales and consumption of recorded music in the world in 2021. And at the top remained the Korean group BTS.
