The producers of the famous annual competition are looking for a host city on the continent to host this new Latin American version.

After Canada, Eurovision will also be exported to Latin America. When the 2022 edition of the famous musical competition ended last May, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) -responsible for organizing the competition- pointed out that the content related to Eurovision on YouTube had generated a high number of visits in the Latin American continent.

Of all of Latin America, which was previously not part of the participating nations, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico recorded the highest number of visitors, the EBU said in a statement.

As a result, Voxovation, already in charge of the American Song Contest, is now looking for a host city on the mainland to host a Latin American version of the musical extravaganza.

“Eurovision’s unique format finds new fans around the world every year and we look forward to growing the brand in this hugely diverse part of the world,” said Martin Österdahl, executive supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest, in a statement.

This expansion comes just weeks after the announcement of the launch of the Eurovision Song Contest in Canada for 2023.

Organized each year by the EBU, the Eurovision Song Contest is the largest music program broadcast live on television in the world. In 2022, more than 180 million viewers followed the event on linear and digital channels.

Eurovision has launched the global careers of many artists, including the Italian rockers of the group Måneskin, winners of the 2021 edition, or even Céline Dion, ABBA and Julio Iglesias.
