Johnny Depp revisits several rock classics on an album with Jeff Beck

American actor Johnny Depp, who is releasing a record with English guitarist Jeff Beck, is touring festivals in France this summer.

A month and a half after the verdict in his favor in his defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard, Johnny Depp turns the page by releasing a new album this Friday. 18imagined in collaboration with rock legend Jeff Beck.

18 is an album in which the two artists revisit various rock classics, including Isolation by John Lennon and venus in fur of the Velvet Underground. Two previously unreleased titles, written by Johnny Depp himself, complete the album.

The actor also plays throughout the month of July at festivals in France, to defend this album. In concert on Thursday night at the Festival Guitare en Scène in Saint-Julien-En-Genevois, in Haute-Savoie, Johnny Depp seduced a large audience.

“It’s crazy to see someone go from a pirate to a guitar player,” one fan told BFMTV. “I didn’t know he did voices that deep or that he could be so precise,” says another fan. “Honestly, he really blew me away.”

For Johnny Depp, it’s a return to basics, Jacques Falda, president of the Guitare en scène festival, explains to BFMTV:

“Before he was an actor, this guy was a musician. He’s a rock ‘n’ roll guy. He’s itchy for music. Come play.”

Johnny Depp’s tour continues in the coming days in France and Switzerland. It will end on July 25 at the Olympia in Paris. Johnny Depp is currently in France, where he is filming the new Maiwenn movie, The favoritea historical film where he plays King Louis XV.
