The winter holidays are coming and the bill is filled with new and old proposals. Among the first appears a rarity: a children’s show based on the songs of Charlie Garcia.
Is called the secret of dragons and the author is Tatiana D’Agate. Ivanna Rossi, Tincho Lups and Luciano Rosini perform, directed by Mariana “Cumbi” Bustinza and musical direction and arrangements by Julián Midón. It opens tomorrow, Saturday, at the Metropolitan Sura Theater, Av. Corrientes 1343, with performances on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in July.

In the story there are three teenagers who have a rock band and one of them inherits an old tavern from the unknown uncle Chipi, where they find a bottle with a strange message that turns them into dragons. From there, everyone must encounter their most feared darkness to break the spell.

According to the author, Tatiana D’Agate, this work is related to a previous musical called magic rock and was based on songs by Luis Alberto Spinetta. “It was the first approach to our poetry to bring what is Argentine rock into childhood. Charly is very important in my life and in fact it was the first thing that brought me closer to rock, but I needed more strength, more time. , more understanding and more age to put this project together, which we started building about six years ago when we launched magic rock,” To explain.
-How were you chaining the songs, or are they setting the story?
-Taziana: It is from the story that the songs ask to enter, somehow. It was an inspiring song Influence, which helped to end the discussion. One of the characters is very anxious, another is very arrogant and another is very insecure. And the influence of any dragon can convert and transform them … “and my mind sleeps under your influence”.
-What did the others find when they joined the project?
-Luciano: I was in magic rock and it was a surprise, because it seemed very ambitious to work with such great references as Spinetta. It was a great experience and later we saw the chance to play other artists who are important to us in our life and our musicality, and we decided to face Charly. Tati was telling me what she had written, but I don’t get involved in that process. Once finished, let’s start talking about shapes, colors, textures and universes.
-Cumbi: After the first reading, we have made progress little by little since last year. In the meantime, until the rehearsals begin, we talk to Tati about the staging. And from the rehearsals and the work of the arrangements with Julián Midón everything was fixed. It is not a work of sonza, let’s say, but it was made thinking of early childhood, from 5-6 years, with many choreographies and songs in 50 minutes.
-Luciano: We also talked to the people who are with Charly, they told him what we were doing and he gave us his approval. It was a very emotional moment. We are bringing his music to a new generation and we want him to continue after the seven performances at the Metropolitan, as happened with magic rockwhich lasted seven years.

-How would you describe the job to parents?
-Cumbi: People will find a musical stage show, a type of musical comedy, where the actors sing live and the songs have great arrangements. There is no live band, but there is a part that is played live. There are colorful sceneries and costumes, all very worthy of being seen and worthy of Charly.
-Tati: They will find a moment to share, first from the musical point of view and then the reflection on the identification with the characters. The job allows a chat after you leave. Open dialogue, open questions.
-Luciano: What I like is that the whole family comes, as I have seen in some rehearsals. there comes a point where work transcends age.
– Finally, a spoiler. Tell some of the songs that are in the play.
-Tati: Close to the revolution, Peperina, Disarms and bleeds.
-Cumbi: I need your love, they won’t let me out, save that flaw.
