Depp’s representative came to respond to the appeal. He said his team is confident that the verdict will be valid.

Was there a fraud at the trial?
Earlier this month, a Virginia judge dismissed seven motions filed by Heard after trial in an attempt to overturn the jury’s verdict. His lawyers had asked the judge in the case to overturn the decision and declare a mistrial.
The argument in that filing was that one of the jurors in the case should have been ineligible because his summons was intended for his father, who had the same name and lived at the same address.

The judge Penny Azcarate ruled that there was “no evidence of fraud or misconduct” on the part of that juror and therefore the verdict should be upheld. He also noted that both sides had questioned and accepted all of the jurors at the start of the trial.
“Due process was guaranteed and provided to all parties in this litigation,” Azcarate wrote at the time.
