David Warner, a familiar face in British film and television, has just passed away at the age of 80.
Low-key actor, born in 1941 in Manchester, David Warner has played many characters on the big and small screen. We remember in particular his role in titanicby James Cameron, in 1997, in the skin of Spicer Lovejoy, Caledon Hockley’s valet (Rose’s fiancé played by Billy Zane).
Very present on television, in historical series – the wars of the roses, Holocaust, massage, Marco Polo – You have also shot for great film directors.
“The Seagull” and “Arabesque”
David Warner starred as well Seagull by Sidney Lumet in 1968, Michael Kohlha as the rebelby Volker Schlöndorff in 1969, straw dogs by Sam Peckinpah, in 1971, The curse by Richard Donner in 1976, Providence by Alain Resnais in 1977. We also saw it in tron in 1982, with Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner, and in Star Trek: The Final Frontierby and with William Shatner or in Planet of the Apes by Tim Burton in 2001.
David Warner has also multiplied supporting roles in popular series such as The Remington Steele Mysteries, for the love of risk, twin peaks, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Arabesqueand even doctor who.
One of his last roles was that of Admiral Bloom in Mary Poppins Returns in 2018.
