One year after the coronation of Olivia Rodrigo, BTS and Lil Nas X, the MTV Video Music Awards announced this Tuesday the list of nominees for its 2022 edition. If Kendrick Lamar, Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow are already presented as The great favorites this year with seven nominations each, others like Stromae surprised within the selection.
The Belgian artist is first nominated in his career in the “best committed video” category for his video clip children of joy, which pays homage to prostitutes. The one who last May had stepped on the red carpet of the Met Gala in New York for the first time, competes against Kendrick Lamar, Latto, Lizzo and Rina Sawayama.
Two new categories
This 2022 edition of the MTV Video Music Awards also has two new categories: Best performance in the multiverse, where we find BTS for their appearance in the game Minecraft, BLACKPINK in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or Ariana Grande in Fortnite as well as Best long-form video , which includes the 10-minute clip ofvery good (Taylor’s Version) by Taylor Swift.
The ceremony, presented last year by Doja Cat, will take place on Sunday, August 28 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
