“Uninhibited and feminist”
“[Andrew Dominik] I wanted viewers around the world to understand not only what Marilyn felt as a star, but also as Norma Jean. It seemed to me the most courageous, uninhibited and feminist approach to the trajectory of this woman that I have seen”, said Ana de Armas.
Joyce Carol Oates’ novel, published in 2000, is one of the American author’s most famous. A fictional biography, it traces the nightmarish trajectory of Norma Jean Baker and paints a vitriolic portrait of America in the 1950s and 1960s, particularly Hollywood.
