‘X Factor UK’ Airs Long Version of Harry Styles’ 2010 Audition

This casting, passed by the British artist at the age of 16, gave rise to the creation of the One Direction group.

X Factor UK offers a trip down memory lane for fans of Harry Styles. The British music competition shared the pop star’s full audition for his debut on Saturday.

Broadcast on ITV in 2010, Harry Styles’ performance originally included only one version of the song. Isn’t she lovely? by StevieWonder. But in this new version we discover that the young artist, then 16 years old, also performed the hit hey soul sister by Train before judge Simon Cowell asked him to sing another song, a cappella.

In addition to this unreleased song, the video also includes passages where the interpreter of watermelon sugar he talks about his job as a salesman in a bakery and where he says that his mother always complimented him on his singing skills.

One Direction formed on X Factor

Thanks to this performance, Harry Styles is selected for the competition suite where he meets Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan, who also came as soloists.

All eliminated from the start of the show, the five singers are narrowly saved by Simon Cowell, who encourages them to form a group, One Direction. Together, they finished third in the competition and quickly enjoyed worldwide success until 2015, when they parted ways.
