From the end of the series. game of Thrones, George RR Martin continues to distance himself from the last seasons of the successful HBO adaptation. In a recent interview with New York Timesthe writer even claims to have been left out by the production, which did not consult him during the making of the last seasons.
“During the fifth season, and the sixth, and of course the seventh and the eighth, they left me aside,” says the novelist. “And I don’t know why. You’d have to ask Dan [Weiss] and david [Benioff].” The series had caught up with the story of the novels in season 5, forcing the duo to walk away from it.
Very involved in “The house of the dragon”
George RR Martin is heavily involved in Dragon Housethe derivative of game of Thrones dedicated to the Targaryen family. He also participates in the creation of other spin-off series. “George has been a great help to us,” said the New York Times Casey Bloys, HBO content manager.
“He created this world. He is the historian, the creator, the guardian. I can’t validate a series he doesn’t believe in,” Casey Bloys continues.
The different novels of the series.
HBO is working on half a dozen series derived from game of Throneswhose one dedicated to Jon Snow. Dragon Housewhich is based on the novel fire and blood, will air from August 22 on OCS.
Last July, George RR Martin reaffirmed that the latest volumes of game of Thrones would be very different from the series: “All the characters who survived at the end of the series will not necessarily be alive at the end of the novel. Some will also survive. Of course. Most. But not all.”
