Things that are said about Francisco Bochatón: “a sensitive boy”, “he writes well”, “an acquired taste”, “devalued”, “the favorite out of tune of my life”, “binorma god”.
Francisco Bochatón has an obvious sense of humor clean laughter and contagious that intersect with relaxed speeches, and sometimes so free and relaxed that we must remind you that, after all, dear Fran, this will be published.
This is when the indie songwriter par excellence introduces us to the typical “uhhh I don’t put it” and says it, obviously, closing the sentence with another ahahahah.
What follows is an accumulation of laughter and something else on his new album, animal clotheswhich presents on 9 September to NA Athenaeum. Of that and other issues related to work and, above all, to life.

pure self-criticism
-Your irregular career …
-Yes, yes, as a soloist I haven’t released a record for ten years. Unequal: it is like seeing a landscape from afar with a shape … without a shape. The last album is the entire return to the decade: the previous one is from 2012. Later I joined Peligrosos Gorriones and we recorded Microbe.
-There are people who don’t know who Bochatón is …
Well, we tell those people I was part of a musical movement of songwriters which prevailed in the 1990s.

-What else?
– That mine is something closely linked to poetics. Which, more than with reading, has to do with my way of expressing myself that I consider part of my body. I guess that’s where the nickname comes from “rock poet”…
-Ah, bua, they confuse you with Spinet?
-Hahahaha, I don’t like that nickname, eh … Well –think three seconds– over there I’m exaggerating a bit hahahahaha, “rock poet” says the boy (and laughs at himself: how much we like Bochatón!).
-Fran, rock has had a lot of casualties in recent years, right?
– Ufff, yes, very …
-Rather than going out of fashion, it was depopulating. A surname like yours might sound “classic” today.
-Sure, you’re right, it could be (haha), but rock does not go away, this is a false feeling. What I see insanely is that there is a show of the boys and a certain way of talking …
-How far were you from falling into the temptation to do some “urban music”?
-Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha What a great way to start the day: never, never! It’s good that you ask me because it could have happened … You fall into temptation hahahahaha, as if the boy was tempted and not …
– Let’s imagine the Machiavellian record company telling you “Call Duki, asshole …”

-Yes, I would find it interesting to do urban music interventions with my form. Bah, any kind of music catches my attention.
all life has music
-Any kind of music catches your attention?
-No, not really, hahahaha, but I don’t have any preference. My tendency is still to listen to everything that happens. Folklore has started to interest me recently, tango first, but folklore now. And urban music, well, I can’t talk about names, but it would be like a 90s-like explosion.
-The other day Lucas Martí said that we are listening to a single rhythm …
– Emmanuel Horvilleur’s brother? It may be, yes, everything is put into the word of the thing. It’s like a posture. When I was 21 and I went out moult (shot of dangerous sparrows), they told me we didn’t know how to play. Now I don’t want to give the same opinion, to say that the basis of urban music is always the same.
Oh good, I don’t want to say that I like it, even if I see it with all possible benevolence: if it exists and has these characteristics, it must be for a reason.
– Bochatón urban music. What would it be like?
-I wouldn’t do urban music shows. I like to make music that I like to listen to. I compose what I would like to hear. The joy of playing is that. I will never try to trap, ahahahah…. But don’t put it on!
– “Animal Clothes”, the on-air cut of the new album, sounds a bit like Richard Coleman, Cerati … Could it be?
-We have registered the end of the difficult period of the pandemic. We recorded with the chin strap hahahahaha! (Fernando) Kabusacki on guitar, the album has nine songs.
I must say that luckily there was a pandemic, don’t get me wrong, but it was possible to do a finer job with topics like turn on, which has folkloric and coastal things. There is a concept … I say “concept” and listen to me saying “concept”, hahahaha. There is also a very The Cure theme.
Bochatón says you now need to have two managers: one for the performances and another to control the replays. Photo Maxi Failla
-What is “conceptual” about a theme like The Cure with another of the coast?
-Hahahaha, stop, it’s very rock. Kabusacki plays particularly loud on this record …
Copyright
-How are royalties charged today? For Spotify plays, YouTube views?
-I charged 4% of each physical disk, but I charged the copyright every three months.
Does it cost more now?
-If you have songs on networks, on Spotify, you charge for it. But you have to hire a community director, which requires a certain percentage to check what should be charged. Before you had the company and they paid you there. Added to this is the SADAIC, where recitals are included, whether it’s a bar or a stadium.
Loads more or less than before?
-The sale of the physical media, with the percentage, I told you, was 4 percent. It wasn’t even that much. The difference is that the album, being the format that could be sold, for some reason represented multiple shows, it was as if the industry had responded. With streaming, you charge a percentage, but you must have a manager for live streaming and another manager for monitoring playback. That is, two managers.
animal clothes is supported by Warningwho has the rights to publish but has no problems with another label that publishes it …
-I don’t understand.
– Me neither hahaha. I do not understand anything! However, I love you all. Ahhh, cuchá, I didn’t even remember: the album also comes out on vinyl. Vinyl!
At this point in your life, who would you like to be?
-I will use it in a barbecue to break the ice! “Who would you like to be when you grow up?” … I would have liked a lot, also, I thought it would have happened, that my career had more tours. I also thought I was going to sell records in Japan… It happened! I have sold 26 albums of paint my lips in Japan…
-Is it true that you had a harassment report and came out unscathed like Johnny Depp?
-There was no cause, there was no cause because there was no crime. There were no hits. There was no physical violence. When I make my statement to the prosecutor, the prosecutor closes the case. Physical, psychological violence … has been archived. She (not the nomination) took legal action and my lawyer, to put an end to everything that really hurt me, advised me to go on probation.
Francisco Bochatón says he never had a lawsuit, but that a show in Rosario was canceled. Photo Maxi Failla
– Have you been canceled?
-In a show in Rosario they canceled my appointment, yes, but I didn’t save myself. They lured me a little, but I think intuition exists and that’s a real cure-all.
-Are there still groupies in rock?
-If there were or were, they would be fired from the locker room.
