According to this documentary, Diana confided in 1995 to her lawyer Victor Mischon that attempts to “get rid” of her would occur the following year. Among these attempts, the princess had notably cited a car accident.

In a letter written by Victor Mischon, Diana explained that she had information from “several reliable sources” but refused to reveal her identity. After Diana’s death in 1997, the lawyer forwarded the letter to Sir Paul Confon, then chief of the Metropolitan Police, but his successor, John Stevens, did not open an investigation until January 2004.

“I was paranoid”

According to the testimonies collected in the documentary, Victor Mischon had estimated before his death in 2005 that “he had not paid much attention” to Diana’s concerns, believing “that she was paranoid”.

John Stevens, who took charge of the investigation, believes he is “100% certain” that no plot against Diana has been fomented. He described her death, which occurred twenty-five years ago on August 31, 1997, as an accident.

Diana was then in Paris with her companion Dodi Al Fayed, aboard a Mercedes driven by Henri Paul, director of security at the Ritz, who had 1.81 grams of alcohol in his blood and was taking antidepressants.

Pursued by the paparazzi, the vehicle had entered the tunnel under the Alma bridge at more than 100 kilometers per hour. The car had swerved before hitting the thirteenth pier of the bridge. The driver and Dodi Al Fayed were killed instantly.

Princess Diana was able to be extracted alive from the remains of the vehicle. She transported to the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital, she died two hours after her arrival. Only the bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones who was in the front, survived the crash.
