Mireille Mathieu reveals recording a reggae song with Arno

At 76 years old, Mireille Mathieu continues to amaze. The singer reveals in the columns of beautiful morning having recorded a reggae song with the singer Arno, who died last April of cancer.

“He said everywhere that one of his dearest wishes was to record a duet with me,” says Mireille Mathieu in the diary. “The pandemic disarmed us and then in December 2021 I called him and told him I wanted to do it… It happened under very emotional conditions…”

The two artists worked remotely on the track. The Farewell of the Doveof which Arno wanted to make a reggae version: “I was very surprised the first time I listened to it, but the song is magnificent. It’s moving to hear this unique, heartbreaking voice, this pain, with this text…” explains Mireille Mathieu.

“I burst into tears”

The singer recalls the sad conditions in which she discovered the title: “Once the studio session ended with her voice on the headphones, I rushed to ask about her and that’s when I found out she had just died…I burst into tears.” . “.

Because Mireille Mathieu had to record a definitive piece with him: “I would have liked so much to sing for him theAve Maria by Schubert… This title must have been the last recording of what would be his posthumous album”.

This disc, operating expenses, September 30th. Before his death, Arno had wanted to go into the studio to record one last album, between autumn 2021 and spring 2022, in Brussels.
