Actor Gary Busey was charged with sex offenses at a fan fair held in New Jersey a few days ago.
Busey, 78, was tried Friday, charged with attempted sexual contact and sexual harassment, police in Cherry Hill, a suburb of the American city of Philadelphia, said Saturday.
The alleged crimes were committed during the annual Monster Mania Convention at the Doubletree Hotel between August 12 and 14 in Cherry Hill, police said.
The actor, who currently resides in Malibu, California, was the special guest for all three days of the show.
Police have not identified the actor as a suspect, although his age and place of origin are the same. An email was sent to the carabinieri asking for confirmation.
It is unclear whether the suspect has a lawyer who can speak on his behalf. The actor’s rep has not yet responded to messages requesting comment.
His career
Busey mainly starred in secondary characters.but he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for the lead role in The Buddy Holly story (1978).
William Gary Busey was born in Goose Creek, Texas.. He graduated from Nathan Hale High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and attended Pittsburgh State University, Kansas on a football scholarship. That’s where his interest in acting began.
He began his career in show business as a drummer on The Rubber Band. He appeared on several Leon Russell recordings, credited with the names “Teddy Jack Eddy” and “Sprunk”, a character he created when he was a cast member of a local television sitcom called The Uncanny Film Festival and Camp Meeting. He was also in a band called Carp, with whom he recorded an album for Epic Records in 1969.
Busey continued to play small roles in film and on television throughout the 1970s: in 1978 he played Buddy Holly in the biopic The Buddy Holly story. The film won an Oscar and Busey was nominated for “Best Actor”. In the same year he also starred in the surf movie Great Wednesday).
In the 1980s, Busey had small roles in Silver bullet (adapted from The werewolf cycleStephen King’s novel), and in Barbarossa, Insignificance Y Deadly weapon.
In the 90s it appeared on Predator 2, Rookie of the Year, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Under Siege, The Firm, Lost Highway, Point Break Y Black sheep.
In 2007 he starred in the HBO series Entourage.
