“Ironheart”, new Marvel series about the comic book character Riri Williams, is taking shape. After confirming Angela Barnes (“Atlanta”) and Sam Bailey (“Dear White People”) as the project directors, Ryan Coogler – director of “Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever” – was also contemplated as executive producer of the production.

According to deadline, coogler will oversee the project alongside his wife Zinzi, through the production company Proximity Media. And, it seems, the filmmaker already has a close relationship with Dominique Thorneinterpreter of laugh and future Iron heartas it is known in Brazil.

The professional familiarity of the two comes from rumors about the introduction of the young prodigy in the sequel to “Black Panther”, directed by coogler. According to the theories, one of his technological inventions, probably coming from Wakanda, will end up affecting the kingdom of Atlantis, ruled by dating (Tenoch Huerta). Therefore, the girl is expected to have an even greater importance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Another novelty that “Ironheart” carries is the possibility of having the first actress, and consequently, the first transgender character in Marvel. Still without some, the studio defines her as someone “Smart, confident, and with a mystical bent and unique sense of humor. She is also described as unapologetically geeky about things that turn her on… even though they might be terrifying to others.”.

Beside Thornethe cast of the series will still include the child star of “City of Vultures”, Harper Anthonyand the actor Anthony Ramosfrom “In a Neighborhood of New York” and “Hamilton”. Chinaka Hodgefrom “Snowpiercer”, will be the showrunner from the series.

The release date of “Ironheart” has not yet been announced, but the public will know Riri Williams in theaters in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, which opens in 2022.
