Britain is exported to space. A film directed by filmmaker Marie Hélia, E-Ty MissionDescribed as “a sublime tribute to Brittany, its culture and its struggles”, it will be sent into the stratosphere, reports the parisian.
According to the newspaper, “the film will be converted into magnetic waves and sent into the stratosphere through the 8 m diameter dish of an amateur and free radio station based in North Finisterre.”
“It’s a bit like radio”, specifies Marie Hélia at the microphone of France Bleu. “We will transcode the image into a magnetic wave and send the film to the Moon, which will serve as a satellite to project the film into space.”
“Why not aliens?”
Marie Hélia, for whom this will be her last film, and who now wants to dedicate herself to writing, says she is very happy with this opportunity:
“It’s a film for the general public. An immersion in Breton history and culture that we want to show as many people as possible and… why not aliens?”
“Everyone can make their own story”
Assignment E-Ty is a 63-minute wordless film that took twelve weeks to complete. It was made from 300 amateur images discovered in the Brittany cinematheque.
“These are images taken by film enthusiasts,” explains Marie Hélia to France Bleu. “Since they are not professionals, there is a great freedom in the way of filming. The images are superb.”
According to the director, it is a visual poem: “Everyone can make their own story. It’s like a poem and everyone can interpret it as they want.”
