The intriguing Moon Knight story from Marvel Studios, which premiered at Disney+, stars Oscar Isaac, who plays a man suffering from dissociative identity disorder and responding to two different identities. In one, he is a gentle gift shop clerk named Steven Grant and in the other he is a ruthless former mercenary named Marc Spector.

The confusing memories and images that haunt Grant/Spector lead him to live situations full of psychological conflict, mystery and lots of action marked by Marvel Studios. When Meghan Kasperlik took over as the costume lead for the series, she knew that since most of the story is tied to ancient Egypt, that aesthetic would have a huge influence on the outfit. For therereviewed the history of their gods and their life habitswith an investigation in the emblematic Egyptian art section of the Metropolitan Museum of New York.

Personality through clothing

Kasperlik, on the other hand, summarizes Steve Grant’s appearance in one word: Brixton. This refers to the style found in the London area that bears that name. The costume designer, however, set out to spice up Grant’s look a bit, adding out-of-place elements like an old T-shirt wearing a print, pleated pants and Oxford shoes with gray socks.

Hidden details in the wardrobe

Marc Spector’s clothing includes a detail that suggests the existence of his other identity, Moon Knight. carried by the ghost hood and wear a tactical vest with pockets. The back of the hood and vest suggests the effect created by Moon Knight’s cape.

A multicultural investigation

The character of archaeologist Layla El-Faouly (created by May Calamawy) lived in Cairo and London. Thinking of her wardrobe, Kasperlik thought about how it might have influenced her, and researched people who had traveled to London. And so look at how Layla’s style evolved under the influence of this city among those who came from other countries.

The character wears a specialized jacket in ancient Egyptian colors and generally has a more athletic style, including a practical pair of sneakers.

The costume of Arthur Harrow, the character played by Ethan Hawke, resembles a monk, and complete with two revealing accessories. Harrow wears two bracelets with artistic symbols from ancient Egypt meaning “death”.

Fully custom-made, hand-sewn and hand-painted, the leather collar of Khonshu (Egyptian god of the Moon and revenge) is reminiscent of the wide collar worn by the elite of ancient Egypt and its bandages were resembles linen wrappers used on mummies.
