Twenty-five years ago, on August 31, 1997, Lady Di died in a car accident under the Alma bridge in Paris. Two days before this disastrous anniversary, her son Prince Harry paid tribute to her in a speech at the Sentebale ISPS Handa Polo Cup in Aspen, Colorado.
“She will never be forgotten. I want everyone to use this day to remember her incredible deeds. I want to use this day to remember her memory with my family and my children. I wish they had known her.”
“Every day, I hope to make her proud. She was tireless in her fight to support and destigmatize people with HIV and AIDS,” adds Prince Harry, visibly moved.
And Meghan Markle’s husband to conclude: “His favorite flowers were forget-me-nots [“forget-me-not” en anglais, ou “ne m’oubliez pas” en français]. I hope we can remember my mother’s actions through our commitment.”
Soon back in the UK
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will return to the UK in early September to visit various charities. They will attend the One Young World 2022 Manchester Summit on September 5, where Meghan Markle will give a speech. On September 8 they will be in WellChildAwards.
During their last visit to the United Kingdom, Harry and Meghan participated in the celebrations of the Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, for her 70 years of reign. They were able to see the royal family again and introduce their youngest daughter, little Lilibet, to the queen.
Prince Harry visited the UN headquarters in New York on July 18, where he gave a speech on the occasion of International Nelson Mandela Day. He mentioned the former South African leader, but also his mother, Princess Diana, and the climate crisis.
