The awards ceremony of the 79th edition of the Venice Film Festival ended, in which Argentina, 1985by Santiago Miter, with Ricardo Darin and Peter Lanzani as protagonists, vying for the Golden Lion for best film.
There was no luck for the film, the Golden Lion went to American production All the beauty and the bloodshed, by Laura Poitras. It is a documentary and for the third consecutive year a director wins the most important prize of the Festival.
Today, exactly six years ago, Saturday 10 September 1986, Oscar Martínez won the Volpi Cup as best actor, for the distinguished citizenby Mariano Cohn and Gaston Duprat.
Argentina, 1985to be released in Argentine cinemas on Thursday 29 September, it follows prosecutors Julio César Strassera (Darín) and Luis Moreno Ocampo (Lanzani) in the historic trial of the military juntas of the last dictatorship.
The jury this year at the Festival is chaired by the American actress Julianne Moore, who twenty years ago won the Coppa Volpi as best actress, for far from heavenby Todd Haynes. No luck, the Best Picture Award went to Third World warby Houman Seyyedi.
