Actor reprises role of Bruce Wayne in the new film of the heroine
“Batgirl,” DC’s new superhero movie, will feature Leslie Grace how Barbara Gordonbut will also mark the return of the veteran star Michael Keaton to the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne. In an interview with Variety, the actress revealed the team’s reaction when Keaton arrived on set on the first day of filming.
“It was wild for everyone. Our directors were like two little kids. They’re legitimate Batman nerds, openly. And he’s Batman, man! I could hardly believe I was sharing a space with Batman. I wanted to say more, but I can’t. It was insane, surreal, incredible,” stated.
Grace also told how it was to act with JK Simmonswho will play the protagonist’s father. “He’s my daddy. I was so nervous because all I could imagine was his voice in ‘Whiplash’. Like, what would he say if I did something wrong? So we became best friends. And he told me all of them. the great stories about starting a career, working as a waiter and in a pizzeria and trying to be an actor, doing theater”he added.
“Batgirl” will have a script by Christina Hodson (“The Flash,” “Birds of Prey”) and will be directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the duo responsible for “Bad Boys Forever”. The project has already been under the command of Joss Whedonbut he left the team in 2018, claiming he failed to unravel the character’s backstory.
Besides grace and JK Simmons, Jacob Scipio (“Bad Boys: Forever”), Rebecca Font (“Double Explosive 2”), Corey Johnson (“Morbius”), Ethan Kai (“Killing Eve”) round out the cast. The actor Brendan Fraser (“The Mummy”) was cast to play the story’s villain, the Firefly.
The plot will feature Michael Keaton returning to costume Batmansince 1992, when he lived the dark Knight in “Batman Returns”. His character is also tipped to appear in “The Flash”, the sprinter’s solo film starring Ezra Miller.
“Batgirl” will be released on HBO Max and the premiere date has not yet been announced.
