Slight decrease in hospitals for COVID-19 in Saskatchewan

The number of COVID-19-related hospitalizations in Saskatchewan decreased between April 20 and 27.

According to the latest weekly report from the provincial government, 409 Saskatchewanians were hospitalized, including 20 in intensive care. Last week, Saskatchewan reached a record number of people hospitalized with 417.

In addition, in the week of April 17 to 23, Saskatchewan confirmed 829 cases detected by PCR testing. Most of the cases were from Saskatoon with 231, while Regina had 141.

At the same time, Saskatchewan reported 14 new deaths, 9 of them under 80 years old.

The province reports 22 new outbreaks in long-term care homes across the province.

On the vaccination side, 85.8% of Saskatchewanians 5 years of age and older got a dose. 80.8% of ages 5 and up received two doses.

Just over 51% of Saskatchewanians age 18 and older received at least one booster dose.
